The Houjou temple is on a small hill of Asahi,Iwanuma city,Miyagi prefecture. It is said that this temple was built in Tenshou year(1573〜1592). It was made a temple where the status was the highest in Iwanuma by the Sendai clan's ranking in Edo period.
In precincts, there is a stone monument built to hold a funeral for six people from Iwanuma where it was killed at the Daitoa War(The World War ��). The one of six was killed in action of Battle of Midway(June 5,1942).
